Woking is a historic Surrey town, appearing in the Domesday Book, and mentioned as the site of a monastery as far back as the 8th century. It includes many historic buildings, including the Shah Jahan Mosque, the oldest in England. Woking was home to the author H G Wells, and various scenes from The War of the Worlds
